Nurturing and Retaining Young Talent in the Industry

The Class of Programme, an initiative of Insurance Institute of Gauteng, is a commitment to nurturing and retaining young talent within the insurance industry – this being achieved through exposure, experience, and leadership development.

The Fulcrum Group being one of the programme sponsors, we jumped at the opportunity for our Fulcrum Premium Finance Managing Director, Sachin Govender, to join Team IIG Z in their recent classroom sessions.

Sachin had the opportunity to engage with the team and have a candid discussion about the world of insurance and finance and how there is so much to learn in this ever-evolving landscape; as well as share the inspirational journey of Mo Salah, how his journey in his football career can teach everyone invaluable life lessons that we can all draw from; self-belief, unwavering confidence and the determination to overcome hurdles.

Sachin shared some of his tips for continuous learning and lessons to carry forward, whilst also touching on some pointers linked to the theme of the day, Presentation Skills.

Here are some of the Tips for Continuous Learning that Sachin shared with the team:

Embrace Continuous Development: Learning never stops! Stay curious and keep honing your skills.

  • Industry Events: Attend industry events and webinars to stay updated with the latest trends and insights.
  • Engage with Peers: Learning thrives on conversation. Engage with your peers, share ideas, and grow together.
  • Embrace the era of change – we are living in a time of profound transformation. Don’t miss out on opportunities to educate yourself.
  • Celebrate small wins – every step forward is worth celebrating. It’s the journey that makes success meaningful.
  • Learn and apply – theory is essential, but it’s the application that brings real results.
  • Build meaningful relationships through Networking – connect with colleagues and industry experts.
  • Be Deliberate, make each conversation count – engage thoughtfully and authentically.
  • The future is bright, and the possibilities are limitless.

We wish the Class of Participants all the best as they head into their final presentations and graduation at the end of 2023!
