Friendly Reminder: PASA Compliance & Debit Order Mandates for Fulcrum Clients
8 April 2025At Fulcrum Group, we believe in the power of mentorship and the role it plays in shaping the future of the insurance industry. This is why we are incredibly proud to celebrate Sue Adams, who is serving as a mentor in the IIG Roots & Wings mentorship programme for 2025.
Sue has been paired with Loyce Luya, a Claims Specialist at Bryte, and is eager to support and guide her on this journey. With a deep passion for mentoring, Sue sees this opportunity as a way to give back to the industry by nurturing and empowering the next generation of professionals.
“If I could dedicate myself to mentoring full-time, I would. Watching individuals grow and realise their potential brings me immense satisfaction.” she says.
Reflecting on her own career journey, Sue acknowledges the value that structured mentorship could have provided in her early years. Though she didn’t have a formal mentor, she was fortunate to have a manager who believed in her abilities and encouraged her to push past her comfort zones. Now, she aims to instill that same confidence in her mentees.
One of her key focuses is helping mentees explore different roles within the insurance industry, ensuring they remain informed about industry developments and encouraging them to pursue further education if necessary. In fact, both of her previous mentees chose to further their studies after completing their mentorship.
Sue also recognises that career paths are rarely linear. She works closely with her mentees to identify their goals, break them down into actionable steps, and develop essential skills to help them succeed.
“Once a mentee identifies their desired career path, we work together to map out the necessary steps – whether it’s developing new skills, gaining relevant experience, or expanding their professional network.”
This year, Sue and Loyce are working through the book Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office by Dr. Lois Frankel, which highlights common unconscious mistakes that can hold women back in their careers. Through this process, Sue hopes to equip Loyce with the confidence, strategies, and knowledge to navigate her career with purpose.
“A crucial aspect of mentoring is believing in your mentee and consistently reminding them of their progress. Each mentoring journey is unique, and it creates a continuous cycle of learning for both mentor and mentee.”
At Fulcrum Group, we celebrate Sue’s commitment to mentorship and the positive impact she continues to make within the industry. We look forward to seeing Loyce thrive under her guidance and wish them both an enriching journey in the Roots & Wings programme!
